This panorama of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field was taken by
James Blakeway during a Florida Gators football game. Known as Florida Field
for 59 years, in 1989 it was renamed in honor of citrus grower and major
school supporter Ben Hill Griffin, Jr. Nicknamed "The Swamp", it holds
88,548 seats and has a current streak of over 116 consecutive sellouts. The
stadium lives up to its haunting nickname with temperatures reaching a humid
100 degrees. It has been ranked the #1 toughest place to play. Gators
football has seven SEC conference titles, two national titles, and over 628
all-time wins. The university, founded in 1853 in Gainesville, Florida, has
over 51,000 students.
